The PCM510xA device belongs to the monolithic CMOS integrated circuit series, which is composed of stereo digital to analog converter (DAC) and additional support circuit packaged with thin small outline size (TSSOP). PCM510xA device uses TI's latest generation of advanced segmented DAC architecture products to achieve excellent dynamic performance and improve the tolerance against clock jitter.

With DirectPath charge pump technology, the PCM510xA device provides 2.1 VRMS central grounding output (designers do not need to connect the DC isolation capacitor on the output) and the external mute circuit traditionally related to the single power line driver. Each pin of the integrated line driver supports a load as low as 1k Ω, thus outperforming all other charge pump based line drivers in terms of performance.

The PLL integrated on the device eliminates the need for the system clock (usually called the master clock), thus realizing a 3-wire I2C connection and reducing the system electromagnetic interference (EMI). The intelligent clock error and PowerSense undervoltage protection adopt a two-layer system, which can eliminate clicking and crackling. Compared with many traditional switched capacitor DAC architectures, PCM510xA series can control the out of band noise at a lower level of 20dB, thus reducing EMI and aliasing in downstream amplifiers/ADCs (measured between 100kHz (typical OBN value) and 3MHz).
