DRV89xx-Q1 is an integrated multi-channel half bridge driver series that is pin to pin compatible, with 4 to 12 half bridges. This device series has a low on state resistance (RDS (ON)), which can improve thermal performance during high current operation.
These devices can drive brush DC (BDC) motors or stepper motors in independent, sequential, or parallel modes. The half bridge is completely controllable to achieve forward, reverse, sliding, and braking operations of the motor.
These devices have a standard 16 bit 5MHz serial peripheral interface (SPI) with daisy chain functionality, allowing for complete configuration and detailed diagnosis. According to the different devices, four or eight programmable PWM generators are integrated to limit the current during motor operation or LED dimming control.
This device contains many protection and diagnostic functions, including the nFAULT pin used to alert the system in the event of a malfunction. This device has a low current open circuit load detection (OLD) mode for detecting open circuit loads when the nominal load current is low, and a passive OLD mode for offline OLD. The device also provides comprehensive protection against short circuits, undervoltages, and overheating.
