Tpd12s521 is a single chip microcomputer ESD solution for high definition multimedia interface (HDMI) transmitter port. In many cases, * * IC, such as scalar chipsets, may not have robust ESD cells to maintain system level ESD strike. While providing ESD protection, tpd12s521 has little or no additional faults in the high-speed differential signal (see figures 3 and 4). The high-speed transition reduced differential signal (TMDs) line only adds 0.9pf capacitance to the line. In addition, the monolithic integrated circuit technology ensures a good match between the dual signal pairs of the differential line. This is a direct advantage over discrete ESD clamp solutions, where changes between two different ESD clamps may significantly reduce differential signal quality.
Low speed control lines provide voltage electrical translation to eliminate the need for external voltage translation integrated circuits. The ESD clamp of the control line adds 3.5pf capacitance to the control line. The 38 pin DBT package provides a seamless layout routing option to eliminate routing failures of differential signal pairs.
Tpd12s521 provides an on-chip regulator with a current output rating of 55mA at pin 38. 5V_ The output of large overcurrent protection at 55mA on out drops to 100mV. This current can also be detected by HDMI receiver. The DBT package pitch (0.5mm) matches the HDMI connector pitch. In addition, the pin mapping follows the same order as the HDMI connector pin mapping. This HDMI receiver port protection and interface device is specially designed for the protection of the next generation HDMI transmitter.
