Sn65hvd230q, sn65hvd231q and sn65hvd232q controller area network (can) transceivers are designed for Texas Instruments tms320lx240x3 3-vdsps and can controller, or equivalent equipment. They are intended for applications that use the physical layer of can serial communication conforming to iso11898 standard. Each can transceiver is designed to provide differential transmission capability to the bus and differential reception capability to the CAN controller.
These devices are designed to operate in particularly harsh environments, with cross line protection, ground loss and overvoltage protection, overtemperature protection, and a wide common mode range.
The transceiver interfaces the single ended can controller with the differential can bus in industry, building automation and automotive applications. It operates in a common mode range of - 2V to 7V on the bus, and it can withstand a common mode transient of ± 25V.
On sn65hvd230q and sn65hvd231q, RS (pin 8) provides three different operation modes: high speed, slope control and low power consumption. The high-speed operation mode is selected by connecting pin 8 to the ground, allowing the transmitter output transistor to turn on and off as quickly as possible without limiting the lifting slope. The lifting slope can be adjusted by connecting the resistance to the ground, because the slope is directly proportional to the output current of the pin. This slope control adopts the external resistance value of 10K Ω to realize the rotation rate of 15V / µ s, up to 100k Ω and 2V / µ s.
The circuit of sn65hvd230q enters the low current standby mode. During this period, if a high logic level is applied to RS, the driver is turned off and the receiver remains active. When the dominant state appears on the bus (bus differential voltage > 900mv typical), the DSP controller reverses this low current standby mode.
The unique difference between sn65hvd230q and sn65hvd231q is that when RS (pin 8), the driver and receiver of sn65hvd231q are turned off and remain in this sleep mode until the low logic level on RS reactivates the circuit.
VREF (pin 5 on sn65hvd230q and sn65hvd231q) can be used as VCC / 2 voltage reference. Sn65hvd232q is a basic can transceiver with no added options; Pins 5 and 8 are NC and are not connected.
